Stone Veneer Delivery: Curbside Service for Your Project

When you order manufactured stone veneer for your home or commercial project, delivery is an important part of the process. Our stone veneer is shipped using LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight shipping, which is both efficient and cost-effective. However, it’s important to understand what curbside delivery means and how to prepare for it.

What is LTL shipping?

LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipping is a freight service that transports goods from multiple customers on the same truck. Instead of renting an entire trailer, your pallets of stone veneer share space with other shipments. This reduces costs and makes shipping more efficient for heavy materials like stone veneer. For your convenience, our LTL carriers use a lift gate and pump truck, which allows the driver to safely lower your palletized stone veneer to the ground at the edge of your driveway or curb.

Curbside delivery explained

Our LTL delivery service is strictly curbside only. This means the freight carrier will deliver your stone veneer pallets to the closest accessible point on the curb or driveway. The driver is not responsible for moving the pallets onto your property, into a garage, or around to the backyard. Because of this, it’s important to plan ahead. You will need to move the pallets from the curb to your project site. Options include:

1. By hand: breaking down the pallet and carrying boxes/stones individually.

2. With a forklift or skid steer: ideal for larger projects.

3. Rental equipment: such as a pallet jack or small loader.

Preparing for your stone veneer delivery

To avoid delays or complications with your stone veneer delivery, make sure the drop-off area is accessible for a large freight truck, have someone available on the scheduled delivery day to receive and inspect your order, and arrange a plan in advance for moving the pallets from the curb to your installation site.

Pickup options to save on shipping

If you’re looking to cut down on delivery costs, pickup options may be the right choice for your project. Instead of scheduling LTL curbside delivery, you can arrange to pick up your stone veneer order directly from our facility or a local freight terminal. Picking up at the terminal often saves on residential delivery fees and lift gate charges, while picking up at our warehouse eliminates shipping costs altogether. This option works especially well if you have access to a truck or trailer capable of handling the weight of your order. Just be sure to bring proper tie-downs and equipment for safe transport. Choosing pickup not only saves money but also gives you more flexibility in managing your project timeline.

White glove delivery service

For customers who prefer a more comprehensive delivery option, white glove service may be available upon request (quotes provided individually). Unlike standard curbside delivery, white glove service includes bringing your stone veneer directly inside your home or business, placing it exactly where you need it, and removing all packaging materials. This premium option is especially useful for projects in tight spaces, second-story installations, or locations where extra care and placement assistance are needed.

Frequently asked questions

1. Can the delivery driver bring my stone veneer into my garage or backyard? No. LTL delivery is strictly curbside. The driver will lower the pallet to the ground at the curb or driveway but cannot move it further.

2. What if I don’t have equipment to move the pallets? You can break down the pallet and move the stone by hand, or you can rent equipment such as a pallet jack, skid steer, or forklift for easier handling.

3. Do I need to be home for delivery? Yes, someone should be present to receive the shipment, inspect the materials, and sign the delivery receipt.

4. What happens if the delivery truck can’t access my property? Freight carriers need adequate space to maneuver. If access is limited, you may need to arrange delivery to the nearest accessible point or to a local freight terminal for pickup.

5. Why is curbside delivery more affordable? By limiting the driver’s responsibility to curbside drop-off, shipping times are faster, liability is reduced, and costs remain significantly lower than white-glove delivery services.
