Mountain View Stone fieldstone midnight stone veneer offers a bold and dramatic appearance, with deep, rich shades of black, charcoal, and dark gray. This stone veneer mimics the natural, weathered stones found in the rugged landscapes of twilight hours, creating a striking contrast in any design. The textured, irregular shapes of our midnight fieldstone veneer provide a sophisticated, modern look, perfect for making a statement on exterior facades, fireplaces, or accent walls. Its dark, moody tones add a contemporary edge while still maintaining the timeless appeal of natural stone.

Mountain View Stone field stone is a classic natural stone profile. The authentic rugged character captured in this pattern is truly remarkable. The timeless shapes and textures of field stone are reminiscent of stones found on farms across the country. Field stone is also known as random rock and is commonly combined with other patterns such as ledge stone to create an old-style rustic look.

Field stone is an individual stone veneer product measuring 1" to 2" thick and therefore thinner than traditional stone siding for easier, lighter handling. All our manufactured stone veneer products are suitable for interior applications such as stone accent walls or stone fireplaces as well as exterior applications such as stone veneer siding. Mountain View Stone field stone is available in boxes of 10 square foot flats, boxes of 6 lineal foot matching corners, and 150 square foot bulk crates.

The product, field stone was as represented, the online photos show the colors pretty accurately. As with natural stones, it does require additional time and labor to arrange the stones to fit the application for a natural setting.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • We need about 3,240 square feet. How many would I need to order and how are they applied?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. The easiest way to determine the square footage of stone veneer flats you will need is to measure the length and to measure the height of the area you will be installing our stone veneer on and multiply them together to get the total square footage of stone veneer flats needed for your project. Corners are not required but they offer a professional finish by wrapping perfectly around a 90 degree outside corner. If you decide to use corners you will need to calculate the lineal feet required by simply measuring the height of all outside corners as our corners are sold by the lineal foot. On each product page there are options for both flats and corners (to the right of the main product image). Outside corners are different from inside corners. For inside corners, our flats are used. Simply run a flat piece into the corner and then a flat piece on the adjacent side. Please feel free to email us the dimensions of your project at info@mountainviewstone.net and we can help you estimate the number of corners and flats you will need to complete your project. Important to note we always recommend adding 10% of what you think you will need as a waste factor. Our installation instructions can be downloaded at https://mountainviewstone.net/pages/post-purchase-support. We strongly recommend reviewing our installation instructions for full details. For most substrates, you will need to install a moisture barrier and then install wire lath over that (make sure the nails or screws for wire lath hit studs to ensure a good foundation). The scratch coat goes over the wire lath and then the stone veneer can be installed. The only substrates that you can install stone veneer directly to without the above noted steps are masonry surfaces (specifically brick, block, concrete). When it comes to adhesion, we recommend our stone veneer and brick veneer are installed with Type S mortar. Type S mortar is recommended for installation opposed to an adhesive as Type S mortar is typically cheaper than adhesive, and when installing with an adhesive you must hold the stone in place until the adhesive sets which really slows down installation time, whereas mortar instantly holds. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • Hi! We are building a few retaining walls on our property and are looking at using your veneers on a cinder block wall. We are interested in the hackett style. I was thinking we could use the field stone as a capstone, but I noticed that it does not come in all the colors that hackett does. I am going to be ordering some samples but wanted to ask if the field stone might be available by custom order in some other colors before I made a decision. The 4 colors I am looking at are kona and midnight, which I saw are available in field stone, and buck mountain and granite, which are not. Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Our stone veneer is suitable for interior and exterior installations, including retaining walls. We can produce field stone in any of the colors we offer, however, we do need to process the order manually as our website does not allow you to select custom colors as an option at this time. Please feel free to email us at info@mountainviewstone.net and we can help you process an order for a custom color. Please note our items are made to order. Currently our production lead time is around four – six weeks. We offer capstones in various sizes. Please feel free to email us at info@mountainviewstone.net and we can provide you more information on our capstones. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • I am trying to locate 300 square feet of stone veneer, 60 pieces of ledger, and 30 lineal feet of corners.
