How to Buy Stone Veneer Online
Share
Manufactured stone veneer is a popular choice for home improvement projects, offering the beauty of natural stone at a more affordable price and easier installation. If you're looking to add this stylish material to your next renovation, buying online can be a convenient option. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you purchase manufactured stone veneer from the comfort of your home.
Know your project needs
Before you start shopping, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of what your project requires. Consider the following:
1. Style preference: manufactured stone veneer comes in various styles, from stacked stone to ledgestone and fieldstone. Take time to browse different designs and choose one that complements your aesthetic.
2. Square footage: measure the area where you'll be installing the stone veneer to determine how much material you’ll need. Stone veneer flats are sold in square feet, so having accurate dimensions will help.
3. Corners: corners are not required but they offer a professional finish by wrapping perfectly around a 90 degree outside corner. If you decide to use corners you will need to calculate the lineal feet required by simply measuring the height of all outside corners as corners are sold by the lineal foot. Outside corners are different from inside corners. For inside corners, flats are used. Simply run a flat piece into the corner and then another flat piece on the adjacent side.
4. Accessories: finish your brick veneer or stone veneer project off with Mountain View Stone accessories. With three colors to choose from: adobe, buff, and slate, you're sure to find exactly what you need to complete your siding project.
Please feel free to email us the dimensions of your project at info@mountainviewstone.net and we can help you estimate the number of corners and flats you will need to complete your project.
Research reliable online retailers
Once you know your requirements, the next step is finding a trustworthy online store. Consider these factors when choosing where to buy:
1. Reputation and reviews: look for well-established retailers with positive customer feedback. Check reviews for insights into product quality, delivery times, and customer service. See what our customers have to say about us. 800 positive reviews and counting.
2. Product variety: some websites offer a wider selection of stone veneer styles and colors than others. Opt for sites that provide diverse options, so you don’t have to settle for limited choices.
3. Return policy: mistakes happen, whether it’s miscalculating your order or receiving damaged goods. Check if the retailer offers a reasonable return policy to ensure you’re covered in case something goes wrong. Read and understand our refund policy.
Check for samples
Many online retailers offer sample sizes of manufactured stone veneer. Ordering a few samples before committing to a large purchase can help you visualize how the stone will look in your space. It’s a smart way to confirm the color, texture, and quality of the veneer before placing a full order.
Our samples, on average cover a 6"x6" area and are actual product. Our samples allow you to see and touch the product and get a good understanding of weight, thickness, color and color variation, etc. We encourage all of our customers to test our samples to ensure they meet your standards and expectations, and of course if you have any questions please let us know, we are more than happy to help you! And as an added bonus when you purchase Mountain View Stone samples we cover the shipping (applies to the continental USA. For orders shipping to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico please contact us for shipping rates.).
It can be difficult to capture all of the variation in color and shape in a 6" x 6" sample, so the samples we offer are to give you an idea of the weight and feel of our stone veneer. The combination of the physical samples and the images online should help you make your decision, it can be very difficult to make a decision based on the samples alone.
Compare prices
Manufactured stone veneer pricing can vary significantly between sellers, so take the time to compare options. While it’s tempting to go with the cheapest price, remember to balance cost with quality. Be sure to factor in any additional expenses like shipping, handling, or installation accessories (e.g., mortar, lath, etc.). Look out for discounts or bulk pricing deals, especially if your project requires a significant amount of material.
Mountain View Stone is family owned and operated, and customer service is our top priority. We pride ourselves on producing high quality stone veneer and brick veneer. We believe Jesus Christ is our Lord & Savior, and therefore operate according to biblical principles. We pride ourselves on producing high quality products and we offer an everyday low price to all of our customers.
Understand shipping costs and delivery times
Stone veneer is heavy, and shipping can be expensive. When shopping online, check the delivery options and associated costs. Some retailers offer free or discounted shipping for larger orders, while others may have flat-rate fees.
Also, review the delivery time estimates. If you're on a tight project timeline, you’ll want to ensure that your stone veneer arrives promptly. If you're ordering from out-of-state, it’s a good idea to check on how long cross-country shipping will take.
The Mountain View Stone website has a built-in freight calculator, simply add products to your cart, add your delivery address, and you will be provided with shipping options including shipping costs as well as estimated delivery times. Shipping costs will vary depending on the amount of stone veneer you purchase and where the product is being shipped to. Please note that the estimated delivery times do not include production times as our items are made to order. Currently our production lead time is around four – six weeks. You can also read our blog post about shipping costs explained.
Read the product description carefully
Before finalizing your purchase, read the product specifications carefully. Ensure the veneer you’re purchasing is designed for your type of installation (e.g., exterior vs. interior), and double-check details like:
1. Thickness and size: ensure the veneer matches your needs for thickness and overall dimensions. On each Mountain View Stone product page there is a section to the right of the images and below the product overview titled "dimensions", if you expand that section you can see the flats and corner dimensions for every product we sell.
2. Individual stones vs. stone panels: the majority of our stone profiles are individual stone and they are made of Portland cement. The individual stones will vary in size, shape, and thickness. To achieve the desired natural stone finish as shown in our images it is up to the installer to arrange the individual stones in the correct pattern and install each stone one at a time. As stone veneer is made out of Portland cement, manufacturing it in sheets/panels is just not reasonable as the weight of the finished product would make it very difficult for the end user to install/work with, therefore the majority of manufactured stone veneer available in the market today will be individual stones.
If you are looking for a panel system, our ready stack profile is a mini panel stone product and is installed in sections at a time. Each panel measures 4” high but will vary in length (5.5”, 8.25”, 11”, 16.5”) and thickness (1.5”-2.5”). Each ready stack panel has multiple stones on each panel face. To achieve the desired finish as shown in our images it is up to the installer to arrange the panels in the correct pattern and install each panel one at a time.
3. Color and pattern variation: some products might have more natural variation than others. Look for any disclaimers about color consistency if you’re aiming for a specific look.
Look for installation resources
Many online stores offer installation guides or videos to help you understand the process. Even if you plan to hire a professional, familiarizing yourself with the installation steps will help you better estimate the project’s time and cost. You can also check if the retailer provides customer support or expert advice for troubleshooting issues during installation.
Mountain View Stone brick veneer and stone veneer are designed for a range of skill levels from the do-it-yourself enthusiast to the professional contractor. Verify warranty and maintenance guidelines
Check if the product comes with a warranty, especially for exterior applications where weather exposure is a concern. Some manufacturers offer limited warranties on their stone veneer products, so make sure you're aware of any conditions or limitations.
The Mountain View Stone warranty is for a period of 50 years covering manufacturing defects as long as it is used on structures conforming to local building codes and installed according to the manufacturer’s written instructions. Damages resulting from wall movement, settlement of the structure, staining, oxidation, paint or contact with chemicals will not be covered under this warranty. Warranty coverage is limited to replacement of defective materials only; labor cost will not be covered. Manufacturer’s warranty must be validated with original paperwork. For full warranty details or to download a PDF copy please see our post purchase support page. You can also read our blog post about how long does manufactured stone veneer last.
Additionally, look into maintenance guidelines. Some stone veneers are virtually maintenance-free, while others might require occasional cleaning or sealing to retain their appearance.
