Do I Need a Forklift to Have Stone Veneer Delivered?
Share
When ordering manufactured stone veneer for your project, you might wonder if you need a forklift to receive the delivery. The good news is that you do not need a forklift to have stone veneer shipped to your job site. Here’s what to expect and how having a forklift on site can impact your delivery experience and shipping costs.
LTL Shipping with lift gate and pump truck for easy delivery
Our stone veneer ships via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight, which is ideal for heavy building materials that don’t require a full truckload. The delivery trucks we use come equipped with a lift gate, a hydraulic platform that lowers the palletized stone veneer safely from the truck bed to the ground at curbside. Additionally, the driver will often use a pump truck (also called a pallet jack) to move the pallets from the truck to your curb or driveway area. This means that you don’t need to have a forklift available for the initial delivery, as the combination of the lift gate and pump truck enables safe unloading without specialized equipment on your end.
Why having a forklift on site can help
While a forklift is not required for delivery, having one on site can make it much easier to move the heavy pallets of stone veneer around once they arrive. This can speed up unloading, staging, and placement on your property or construction site. Additionally, some freight companies offer cheaper shipping rates if you have a forklift available, because they can deliver pallets directly into your warehouse or storage area instead of just curbside. This can save time and reduce the risk of damage from manual handling.
What is curbside delivery?
Our LTL (Less Than Truckload) delivery service is strictly curbside only, meaning the freight carrier will deliver your stone veneer pallets to the edge of your driveway or curb. Moving the pallets beyond the curb or into your property is your responsibility. It’s important to plan accordingly and have a way to move the stone veneer from the curb to your desired location, whether by hand, with a forklift, or rental equipment. This curbside delivery approach helps keep shipping costs affordable while ensuring your materials arrive safely.
Do I need a forklift to have stone veneer delivered?
You don’t need to own or rent a forklift to receive your stone veneer delivery. Our LTL freight trucks with lift gates and pump trucks make curbside delivery easy and safe. However, having a forklift on site can improve efficiency and possibly reduce shipping costs, so consider this option if you plan a larger project or need to move pallets frequently.
